Another renew pack was briefed looking for substantial newness in the space, with a more open-ended outlook on material and form. I originally pitched a combination engineered knit and cut and sew pattern to be applied to the crater chuck model to drive a really interesting aesthetic combining heritage details with our newly developed engineered knits.

Collaborating with my color design partner who had been looking for a place to incorporate an undyed execution into the line - we knew that looking into the warmer months an undyed pack would be a really interesting color play, so we pitched undyed through the assortment utilizing a variation of natural and synthetic materials, all containing 100% recycled content. The form here was a combination of heritage overlays used to create depth and dimension with transparency and texture across our tiered assortment from CT70 down to the classic Chuck.

For exploration of the patterns on the pitch for the crater chuck I went from Illustrator into Modo/colorway and photoshop to create my own 3d materials, overlays, and colorway variations. Modo was a new tool at this time and was prioritized to drive more depth in digital form. With the inherent color coming through for the undyed models, we pitched the secondary colorway which needed more vetting especially at the top tier with the multi color combo.

In the end the CT70 and Classic Chuck lived, with one true undyed CT70, and other undyed elements appearing throughout the pack wit the undyed rPET lace being the red thread throughout the tiering structure. The overlays were further reduced on the CTAS hi and ox in order to accommodate that “safer” consumer.
